MOUNTAIN PINE RIDGE FOREST RESERVE – FULL-DAY TOUR

Escape into the highlands of western Belize and spend the day exploring the spectacular Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, a landscape unlike anywhere else in the country.

Covering approximately 300 square miles, the reserve offers a striking contrast to Belize's tropical lowlands. Here, towering pine forests, rolling hills, rocky landscapes, clear mountain streams, caves, waterfalls, and natural swimming pools create the perfect setting for a day of exploration and relaxation.

As we journey through the reserve, you'll experience some of Mountain Pine Ridge's best-known natural attractions.

BIG ROCK FALLS

One of the highlights of the day is the spectacular Big Rock Falls, where water cascades dramatically over massive granite rocks into a beautiful natural pool below.

We access Big Rock Falls through the privately owned San Miguel Camp Grounds, which provides restroom facilities and designated picnic areas for added comfort and convenience during your visit.From the camp grounds, we'll make our way down to the waterfall, where you can take in the spectacular scenery, cool off with a refreshing swim, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Please note that reaching the waterfall involves walking down a series of steps and uneven terrain, followed by the climb back up.

RIO FRIO CAVE

 Explore the impressive Rio Frio Cave, known for its enormous entrance and dramatic limestone formations.

A short walk brings you into the cave, where you'll see towering rock walls, stalactites, stalagmites, and a stream flowing through the cavern. Natural light entering from the cave's large openings makes this an easy and fascinating cave to explore.

RIO ON POOLS

We'll also visit the beautiful Rio On Pools, a series of natural pools, smooth granite rocks, and small cascading waterfalls along the Rio On River.

This is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy the scenery, and take an optional afternoon swim before beginning our journey out of the reserve.

TRADITIONAL BELIZEAN LUNCH

During the day, enjoy a delicious traditional Belizean lunch featuring:

Rice & Beans • Stewed Chicken • Fried Plantains • Salad
