Your day begins with a scenic drive through the beautiful countryside of western Belize, passing through traditional communities and lush tropical landscapes on the way to Barton Creek Cave.

Upon arrival at Barton Creek, board your canoe and prepare for a peaceful journey into one of Belize's fascinating archaeological caves.

Paddle gently into the cave as your guide leads you through an impressive underground world filled with beautiful stalactites, stalagmites, and massive limestone formations.

Barton Creek Cave also holds significant archaeological importance. Evidence of ancient Maya activity has been discovered within the cave, including pottery dating from the Early Classic (AD 200–600) through the Late Classic Period (AD 600–900), along with human remains and other evidence suggesting that portions of the cave were used for ceremonial purposes.

As you glide through the cave, your guide will share information about its geology, archaeology, and importance to the ancient Maya.

The canoeing portion is relaxed, educational, and suitable for a wide range of ages, making it a wonderful way to experience Belize's underground world.

BIG ROCK FALLS

After exploring Barton Creek Cave, we'll continue into the beautiful Mountain Pine Ridge area for our visit to Big Rock Falls.

We access Big Rock Falls through the privately owned San Miguel Camp Grounds, which provides restroom facilities and designated picnic areas for added comfort and convenience during your visit.

From the camp grounds, we'll make our way down to the waterfall, where the river cascades dramatically over massive granite rocks into a beautiful natural swimming pool below.

Take a refreshing swim, enjoy the spectacular scenery, or simply find a comfortable spot to relax and appreciate the peaceful surroundings.

Please note that reaching Big Rock Falls involves walking down a series of steps and uneven terrain, followed by the climb back up.
